The Icon Treatment Process
Preparation and Isolation
The affected tooth is cleaned thoroughly to remove any plaque or debris. A dental dam or similar isolation technique is used to protect the surrounding gums and teeth, ensuring that the treatment area remains dry and accessible throughout the procedure.
Application of Etching Gel
An etching gel containing hydrochloric acid is applied to the white spot lesion for a specific duration, typically around two minutes. This process opens the micropores in the enamel, allowing for better penetration of the resin infiltrant. The etching gel is then thoroughly rinsed off, and the tooth is dried.
Infiltration with Resin
The resin infiltrant is applied to the etched area and allowed to penetrate the enamel for approximately three minutes. This infiltration process fills the porous enamel, effectively masking the white spot lesion. After excess resin is removed, the area is light-cured to harden the material. The tooth is then polished to achieve a smooth, natural finish.
